The SC7 core team will explore Bulls Island with Coastal Expeditions, experiencing one of South Carolina’s most remarkable natural treasures and the expedition’s designated 7th Wonder of South Carolina.

The morning will begin with a sunrise visit to the island’s iconic Boneyard Beach, where weathered trees scattered along the shoreline create one of the most breathtaking and recognizable coastal landscapes in the Southeast. As the sun rises over the Atlantic, the experience will highlight the beauty, resilience, and constantly changing nature of South Carolina’s barrier islands.
Bulls Island and the surrounding Cape Romain landscape play a vital role in protecting South Carolina’s coastal ecosystems. Maritime barrier islands serve as critical habitat for shorebirds, sea turtles, fish, and countless other species while also acting as natural buffers that absorb storm surge, reduce erosion, and help protect inland communities and marsh systems. This experience will emphasize the importance of conserving these fragile coastal environments and the role they play in maintaining the ecological health and biodiversity of South Carolina’s coast for future generations.
