A hike to Fort Fair Lawn will provide an opportunity to explore one of South Carolina’s important Revolutionary War-era sites while learning about the fort’s role in protecting the Pee Dee region during the fight for American independence.
Originally constructed during the Revolutionary War, Fort Fair Lawn served as a strategic outpost and gathering point for Patriot forces as conflict spread across the South Carolina backcountry.
Along the hike, participants will hear about the fort’s history, the people who served there, and the broader impact of the Revolutionary War on the surrounding communities and waterways of the Pee Dee. Following the hike, the experience will continue with a tour of the Fort Fair Lawn Museum, where exhibits and artifacts further bring the region’s Revolutionary history and cultural heritage to life.
