This special SC7 event will be held along the banks of the Chattooga River near the iconic Bulls Sluice rapid, offering attendees a unique opportunity to experience one of the Southeast’s most celebrated natural treasures firsthand.

Specialists from Wildwater will provide an engaging discussion on river safety, whitewater awareness, and responsible recreation, while representatives from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) will share insights into the river’s ecology, biodiversity, and the importance of protecting this nationally significant watershed and surrounding ecosystem. Attendees will also hear from Brian Thill of the South Carolina Aquarium, who will explore the “Blue Mind” theory — the idea that being near, in, on, or around water can have profound benefits for mental health, emotional well-being, and human connection to the natural world.
Your attention, please…
SC7 participants will meet at the Bulls Sluice pull-off parking area along Highway 76, where restroom facilities are available. From the parking area, the group will walk together approximately a quarter-mile down the trail to the river access point.
Anyone interested in experiencing the Chattooga River firsthand afterwards can book an afternoon whitewater rafting trip with Wildwater Chattooga by visiting Wildwater Rafting’s Chattooga Rides
