DESCRIPTION:A guided 3.2-mile hike through Poinsett State Park along the Scout and Coquina Trails will combine outdoor exploration with the rich Revolutionary War history of Sumter County as the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of American independence.  Along the route, the experience will highlight the story of the Battle of Halfway Swamp in nearby Pinewood and the skirmishes that impacted the area surrounding Poinsett State Park during the Revolutionary War.
