The South Carolina 7 (SC7) Expedition has reinforced what I’ve always known—our state’s beauty rivals anything else in the world. From the breathtaking vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the pristine beaches of the Lowcountry, South Carolina offers an unmatched variety of landscapes, each more stunning than the last. While the world is full of incredible places to explore, I choose to travel right here, uncovering the hidden gems and natural wonders in my own backyard. There’s no need to go far when South Carolina offers adventure, history, and beauty at every turn. SC7 is a reminder that some of the most spectacular places aren’t across the globe—they’re right here at home.

The SC7 Expedition is a project that I’m enormously proud to be a part of as Chief Logistics Officer. I love bringing people together to experience our amazing natural resources and seeing how this adventure strengthens our people, our places, and our economy. Every mile traveled showcases the beauty we’re working to protect and the power of collaboration in making a lasting impact. SC7 is more than an expedition; it’s a movement that unites passion, purpose, and the great outdoors.

One of the things I love most about the South Carolina 7 (SC7) Expedition is the opportunity to travel and experience the incredible diversity of our state. From the towering peaks of the Upstate to the serene marshes of the Lowcountry, every stop along the journey offers something new to discover. SC7 allows me to see South Carolina in a way I never have before—immersing myself in its landscapes, history, and culture while meeting the people who call these places home. Exploring different regions reminds me just how special this state is.

I am passionate about the South Carolina 7 Expedition, not only for the adventure but for the incredible partners it brings together. Through collaboration and shared vision, we are making a tangible difference in our state—protecting its natural beauty, raising awareness for conservation, and inspiring action. Being part of this journey is an honor, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a cause that ensures South Carolina’s most treasured landscapes are preserved for generations to come.

What I love most about being part of the SC7 Expedition team is the opportunity to promote the powerful connection between South Carolina’s natural resources and the health and wellbeing of all South Carolinians. By encouraging nature exposure, outdoor recreation, and ecotourism, we’re not only improving quality of life and building resilience but also supporting the economic prosperity of our state. It’s inspiring to witness the collective impact when corporate, nonprofit, municipal, state, and community leaders come together with a shared vision for a healthier, more sustainable, and thriving South Carolina.

I love SC7 for the incredible opportunity it provides to get outside, explore our state’s natural beauty, and build a strong sense of community. SC7 brings together people from all walks of life, creating connections that might not have happened otherwise. Through shared experiences on the trail, we foster relationships, inspire one another, and work together to protect the places that make South Carolina so special. Being part of this journey is a privilege, and I am grateful for the chance to meet new people, learn from their perspectives, and grow alongside them in the great outdoors.

My favorite thing about SC7 is how it gets people to explore South Carolina like a tourist—reminding us that the mountains, waterfalls, and coastlines people travel to see are right in our own backyard. It’s the perfect excuse to get outside, appreciate our state’s beauty, and experience the adventure waiting for us!

My favorite aspect of the South Carolina 7 Expedition is its dynamic way of connecting with nature while prioritizing health and wellness—even in the heart of our cities. Walking along the Swamp Rabbit Trail and exploring South Carolina’s urban green spaces proves that adventure and well-being aren’t limited to the wilderness. SC7 highlights the importance of integrating nature into our daily lives, whether it’s a stroll through downtown, a riverside walk, or discovering hidden pockets of greenery in the city.

My favorite part of the SC7 expedition is discovering parts of our state I did not know existed. There are dozens – if not hundreds – of trails, paths, waterfalls, rivers, streams, gorges, paths, bridges, and more here in South Carolina that I was unaware of until being a part of this expedition, even as a native. From the many miles of trails hidden unexpectedly in city downtowns, hidden waterfalls across the upstate, and even small uninhabited islands off of our coast, finding the places that excite you is part of the fun.

My favorite part about the SC7 expedition is the opportunity to walk and talk, while taking in the stunning scenery that our great Palmetto state has to offer. It is such a treasure to connect with both nature and the rich history of South Carolina, as well as with the amazing people we meet along the way.

One of the greatest joys of the SC7 Expedition is capturing the beauty of South Carolina and sharing it with those who may not experience it firsthand. From mountains to coastlines, I feel privileged to witness these breathtaking landscapes. Through photos, videos, and stories, I hope to inspire others to appreciate and connect with the outdoors. SC7 is more than adventure—it’s about making South Carolina’s natural wonders accessible to all, no matter where they are.

The SC7 Expedition is an incredible journey, but what inspires me most is the behind-the-scenes work that brings it all together. Watching partners, organizers, and volunteers unite around conservation and outdoor adventure is amazing. SC7 isn’t just about exploring natural wonders—it’s about the teamwork and passion that make it all possible. From logistics to outreach, every detail helps connect people to nature and each other. I’m honored to be part of the effort that strengthens our shared commitment to protecting the places we love.

My favorite fun thing about SC7? From a unique behind-the-scenes perspective, I’ve always generated media for the expedition, reaching tens of thousands in SC and millions across North America. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed breaking free from my desk to hit the trail, especially at Congaree National Park, the “largest remaining tract of old-growth bottomland hardwood forest.” Highlights also include events in Charleston, Camden, Fort Jackson, Columbia’s river walks, and the camaraderie with friends, new and old. The most interesting dynamic of SC7 is that it seems to get better every single year.

The South Carolina 7 (SC7) Expedition is more than just an adventure—it’s about the camaraderie built along the trail. For me, the journey isn’t just about the breathtaking landscapes or the miles covered; it’s about the people who walk beside me. SC7 brings together individuals from all backgrounds, united by a shared love for the outdoors and a commitment to protecting South Carolina’s natural beauty. Whether swapping stories on the trail, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying the journey together, the friendships formed along the way make this experience truly special.
